What a detection system needs to do

A fire detection system has one job: pick up a developing fire early enough that people can get out and the fire brigade can be called. Getting that right is a matter of selecting the correct detector type for the space, placing devices where they will actually sense smoke or heat, and wiring everything back to a panel that reports clearly.

We work on new installations and on existing systems that have been added to over the years and no longer behave the way they should.

What we work on

• Smoke detection, including photoelectric and other detector types suited to the space
• Heat detection for areas where smoke detection would produce constant false alarms
• Fire indicator panels and sub panels
• Alarm sounders, strobes and occupant warning
• Detection wiring, loop faults and device replacement
• Fault finding on systems that are nuisance tripping

New systems and existing systems

For a new building or a fitout, we work from the plans and the building classification to design a system that suits the use of the space. For an existing building, we will inspect what is there, tell you what is working, what has aged out and what needs to change, and give you a straight quote.

Keeping it working

A detection system is only as good as its last test. Once a system is in, we can put it on a regular service schedule so it gets tested, logged and kept in working order. See maintenance and testing for how that works.
